Lehmbruck as an Illustrator and Painter

Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg

Elegant lines and a reduced, precise use of colour define Wilhelm Lehmbruck's drawings and paintings. As in his sculptures, the human figure is the focus of his drawings, prints and paintings. Lehmbruck is less concerned with the depiction of specific persons; rather, he uses the human figure as a vehicle of expression. At the centre of the cabinet show are rarely exhibited paintings and drawings from the Lehmbruck Museum, which houses the world's largest collection of Wilhelm Lehmbruck's works.
