Museum Folkwang, Essen

Museum Folkwang

Museum Folkwang is reopening its basement as a permanent exhibition space for photography. In future, above all works newly acquired for the Collection will be presented in a visual dialogue with individual items or groups of works from the holdings of the Photographic Collection. The exhibition showcases the eponymous conceptual mail-art project – and it will be going on public view for the very first time. For over ten years editors not to mention curators in photography institutions have, at irregular intervals, received anonymous letters containing a folded piece of paper printed with images. In the exhibition the 21 letters will be juxtaposed to anonymous photographs as well as to works by Lewis Baltz, Lotte Errell, Harry Hachmeister, Astrid Klein, Shahryar Nashat, and The Good Liars, to name but a few.
